Aerials

This is a precision made version of the all time classic half wave dipole aerial. These aerials have a wider radiation angle than the high gain vertical types and this often makes it the best choice of aerial to use in built up areas and where the land is not particularly flat. This aerial is very suitable for vertical mounting on a metal mast, thanks it's generous length stand-off boom. Detuning due to mast proximity is negligible. The RF bandwidth of this aerial is plus/minus 3MHz. So an aerial tuned to 100MHz will work equally well on any frequency between 97MHz and 103MHz!

Due to it's inherent simplicity and all aluminium construction, this is just about the most durable and rugged aerial there is. The half wave dipole works well in all weather conditions too and is virtually immune to bad weather detuning even when it's snowing!

The NRG Kits tuned half wave dipole has a very important coaxial balun (balanced to unbalanced transformer) fitted at the feedpoint. This converts the 75 ohm balanced input at the aerial terminals to an unbalanced 50 ohm input. This is very important because your transmitter must 'see' an unbalanced 50 ohm aerial, or your coax will radiate, which can cause severe TVI.

This is a high performance, high gain vertical aerial specifically designed for FM Broadcasting and when mounted on a high building (Tower Block!) will outperform half wave dipoles, j-poles, slim jims and 5/8 wave verticals. Because this aerial is end fed, you can clamp it right at the top of the mast, making the most of the available mast height. With a 100 watt transmitter, you have an effective radiated power of more than 220 Watts ERP!

The unique matching circuit at the base of the radiator has the very useful property of removing harmonic content from the transmitter signal, thereby greatly reducing the risk of TV interference through harmonic radiation. Furthermore this high performance 1/2 wave design needs no ugly groundplanes sticking out from the base, unlike the inferior 5/8 wave types which perform badly anyway.

You must state the frequency required when ordering this high performance aerial. The bandwidth is plus/minus 2 MHz from the centre frequency. So an aerial tuned to 100 MHz would work equally well on any frequency between 98 MHz and 102 MHz. Three versions of this incredibly effective Transmitting Aerial are available:

FOR BAND 111 use up to 230MHz, the high gain of this Directional Antenna is at least 8dB.  Use one each for TX and RX,  it’s a total gain of 16dB,  or quite simply it’s a gain of 40 times!! Extremely important, is the Balanced – to – Unbalanced transformer, fitted by demand to totally avoid radiation (or interference) from the Cable! It’s incredible how other manufactures don’t even fit a Balan - - - Don’t fall for that, stick with NRG for a better quality Antenna every time!

These Antennas are especially suitable for Link System’s which Transmit a signal to go only one way, to the Receiver.  The tuning of this Directional Antenna’s is precision and will be set to the exact frequency required, giving you excellent performance where you need it most! At the Band 111 Receiving end, it cannot be stressed enough that an Antenna of the highest quality is required  - - -  and we make it available right now!      

Using these Antennas is easy to connect, particularly as the Band 111 Link TX or RX is HORIZONTALLY fitted/polarised. This makes it a very quick job to fit correctly. And don’t forget, the high gain Antennas means that a 4 Watt system gets as far (if not further) as a poor Aerial using about 200 Watts! It saves a lot of money and at the same time avoids interference, noise, and is 100% suitable for Transmit and Receive for Link Systems.
